About the book

Years before the events recounted in "A Bad Spell in Yurt"....

Daimbert is hard at work in the family wool import business, but he feels there must be more to life than buying and selling and keeping accounts. The wizards' school sits high on the hill above the City, yet magic seems inaccessible to a young man from the warehouse district.

But this all changes when his cousin, the closest thing he's ever had to a brother, decides to go off to war.

This short tale (novelette) is a prequel to the Royal Wizard of Yurt series.
