Simon Tolkien, born in 1959 in England and raised in a quaint village near Oxford, comes from a literary lineage as the grandson of J. R. R. Tolkien, the renowned author of The Lord of The Rings. After studying Modern History at Trinity College, Oxford, he pursued a successful career as a barrister specializing in criminal justice, representing both the prosecution and defense as per British tradition. Currently residing in Southern California with his wife and two children, Simon has ventured into the world of writing, with his debut novel Final Witness, published by Random House in 2002 and available in eight different languages. His second novel, The Inheritance, hit the shelves on April 13 under Minotaur Books. While he holds a deep admiration for his grandfather's literary works, Simon's own writing is heavily influenced by his experiences as a trial lawyer and his profound interest in modern European history, legal systems, and social politics within 20th century British society.
