George R.R. Martin made his debut as a writer in 1971 and has remained in the professional writing scene ever since. His portfolio includes a mix of fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres. In addition to his writing, he also dabbled in the world of Hollywood for a decade, taking on roles as a writer and producer for projects such as the Twilight Zone, Beauty and the Beast, as well as various films and TV pilots that never saw the light of day. In the mid-90s, Martin decided to return to his roots in prose and began crafting his monumental fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire. He has been deeply immersed in the fictional Seven Kingdoms ever since. When he manages to take a break from his writing, he retreats to his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he resides with his partner Parris, alongside their beloved pets - a large white dog named Mischa, and two regal felines named Augustus and Caligula, who believe they are the masters of the household.
