Cassandra Clare
Born to American parents in Teheran, Iran, Cassandra Clare had a childhood filled with adventures around the world. From trekking through the Himalayas as a toddler, living in her father's backpack for a month, to living in France, England, and Switzerland before turning ten, she experienced a diverse range of cultures and landscapes. Constantly on the move, Clare found solace in books, carrying one with her wherever she went. After college, she settled in Los Angeles and New York, where she worked for various entertainment magazines and questionable tabloids. Reporting on celebrities like Brad and Angelina and Britney Spears, she eventually turned her focus to writing her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004. Inspired by the bustling streets of Manhattan, her beloved city, Clare transitioned to writing fantasy fiction full-time in 2006, leaving behind gossip writing about Paris Hilton for good.
