Caroline was born and raised in eastern Washington State. She attended college at the University of Puget Sound, where she majored in political science, an impractical choice that later made it difficult to get a real job. After holding a variety of positions including bank collections and torpedo weapons input analyst, she settled into being a stay at home mom, and soon got bit by the writing bug.
Since first being published in 1992, she's been a RWA Golden Heart and RITA finalist, a 1999 RITA winner in short contemporary, been nominated for and won a variety of Romantic Times Reviewer Choice awards and has twice been honored with an Emerald City Keeper award, chosen by Northwest readers. She's also been #1 on the Waldenbooks Romance Bestseller list.
For Caroline, the writing part of being a writer is always a challenge. She struggles with it every day, and is exceedingly grateful for her family's patience and the brilliance of her brain-storming partner, bestselling author Susan Andersen. Her goal as a writer is to craft the sort of stories that make readers smile with satisfaction at the end.
